Hello! We are the students of class 5c from the Reineke Fuchs Primary School in Berlin. In our project, we created our very first radio show and also designed our school newspaper “The World of Foxes”!

We worked on many exciting topics: the SDGs (goals for a better and fairer world), climate change, Antarctica, and the country Egypt. For this, we did research, wrote texts, spoke into the microphone, and prepared our contributions for radio and newspaper.
At the beginning, we asked ourselves: What do children need to feel well? Then we wanted to know whether adults know the SDGs. For this, we conducted a street interview and asked people in Berlin. Afterwards, we explained what the SDGs actually are and why they are so important for our future.
Then it was about SDG 13: climate action. We learned what CO₂ has to do with it and why the climate is changing. And now comes our biggest highlight: we conducted a live interview with real researchers—people who were in Antarctica at the Neumayer III research station! It was incredible because we could speak directly with them, even though they were thousands of kilometers away in the middle of the ice. They told us how they live there, what they measure every day, and how they can tell that the climate is changing. For us, it was like a small journey to a place that you can hardly ever visit.

And then we went from the cold to the heat: to Egypt! Here too, we first asked adults what comes to their mind about Egypt. Then we collected interesting facts: where Egypt is located, how people live there, and what the country has to do with climate and environmental protection.

Another highlight was our video conference with students from Cairo from the EBIS school. We asked questions, talked about school and everyday life, and realized: even though we live far apart, we have many things in common.

In the end, a radio show with reports, interviews, surveys, and music, and our school newspaper “The World of Foxes” with our most important information and stories were created. We hope you listen in and also browse through our newspaper!
We thank Johanna Brehmer, Josef Müller, and Lukas Weis from the Neumayer III research station for the very exciting interview, and the students from the EBIS school in Cairo for the great video conference!
